Mission Statement

The William C. Overfelt (WCO) Booster Club is a legal non-profit organization focused upon benefiting the current WCO student body. Our goal is to morally and financially promote community involvement and participation in the academic, athletic and artistic student activities of the W.C. Overfelt High School.

Club Charter

The WCO Booster Club conducts various fundraising activities to create financial support for the academic, athletic and artistic activities of the Overfelt High School. Our charter is to fill the funding gaps for school activities and bestow awards for student accomplishments.

Composition of Club

Membership in the WCO Booster Club is open to all parents (or guardians), family members, alumni, parents of alumni, coaches, faculty and William C. Overfelt staff. There is a minimum annual membership fee of $25 per member.

Club History

The WCO Booster Club was founded at the beginning of November 2009.  The club's first official meeting occurred in January 2010.

Club Practices

The funds raised by the WCO Booster Club are deposited in a bank checking account at a commercial financial institution. The funds are managed by the club and gifted to approved activities and student accomplishments.

There are typically three fundraising events hosted each year. In 2010, the WCO Booster Club held a Winter Event, a Spring Event (the Carl Monroe Memorial Golf Tournament), and a Summer Event (the Bette Ruch-Rose BBQ).

The WCO Booster Club typically meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7PM in the Teacher's Lounge on the Overfelt High School campus. These meetings are used to define, plan, and implement the fundraising activities conducted by the club. The schedule of meetings is posted on this web site.

When a Request for Funds form is submitted to the WCO Booster Club, the board determines the initial appropriateness of the request. If it is approved, the board will bring the request to the next general meeting for approval by the club members. After approval, the board will determine when and how the request will be funded, and for what amount.

All funding requests are evaluated in light of the potential impact on WCO Booster Club funds, outstanding WCO Booster Club commitments, and on the anticipated benefit to the general WCO student body.

The Board

The board members consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer and Fundraising Coordinator. The positions of Fundraising Coordinator and Concession Coordinator are selected by the officers. The club elects new board members every January for a one-year term. The definition of the various board member roles are referenced in the byaws. One key role is the review of the various Request for Funds forms that are received by the WCO Booster Club.
